We made this rustic holiday front door decoration by decorating a purchased grapevine wreath with evergreen sprays, peppermint vines, red berries and a burlap bow. You can find plain grapevine wreaths at crafts stores and online for very little so it's an easy way to create a front door decoration without breaking your budget.

How to Decorate a Grapevine Wreath for Christmas

We used faux greenery and accents to decorate our grapevine wreath so it would last for multiple seasons, but you could use real evergreen branches as well. Visit a Christmas tree lot to pick up low-cost or free evergreen scraps to make this an inexpensive project!

  • 3 faux mixed pine sprays
  • Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
  • 1-2/3 yards of 2-1/2-inch wide wire-edge burlap ribbon

  • Wire snips
  • Faux red berries

Step 1: Add Pine Sprays to the Grapevine Wreath

Arrange the sprays to the fan our from a central point on the left side of the wreath. Use your hot-glue gun to adhere the pieces in place. If you need a little extra support, use some floral sire to secure the branches to the wreath base.

Step 2: Add a Ribbon Bow

To make the wreath bow, cut a 42-inch length of burlap ribbon. Leaving a 14-inch tail, make a 4-inch loop, holding the ribbon between your thumb and index finger. Continue holding the ribbon, and make 5-inch loops in both directions. Continue holding the ribbon, and make 6-inch loops in both directions. Wrap wire around the bow center, not trimming the wire ends. For the remaining bow tails, wire the remaining piece of ribbon to the center. Trim the wire and ribbon ends.

Wire the bow to the left side of the wreath where the pine boughs meet, positioning slightly above center.

Step 3: Add the Accents

Hot-glue or wire the red berries to the left side of the wreath, working upward, sideways, and downward from the bow. Hot-glue peppermint greenery to the left side of the wreath, working upward, downward, and sideways from the bow. Let the vines trail down and off the wreath.

Hot-glue willow branches to the left side of the wreath, positioning them so they flow naturally from the top and bottom of the wreath.
